Division of Oceanic & Atmospheric Processes

Our research scientists are mainly interested in understanding the atmospheric and oceanographic processes near the coastal water of South Carolina as well as other regions that can affect the climate system. Current efforts emphasize wind energy observation, three-dimensional atmosphere and ocean circulation modeling, air-sea interaction, coastal inundation and sea level rising, as well as coastal hydrodynamics and sediment transport. Ongoing collaborative efforts with government agencies and other universities strengthen BCCMWS's research capabilities, and provide Coastal students with opportunities for involvement in applied studies of immense value in shaping their future careers.
