NASA EPSCoR: Gravity Waves and Their Impact on the Stratosphere

A state-of-the-art model will be used to quantity gravity wave sources and their effects on the stratosphere. Along with NASA observations, the expected results will help us be more effective in assessing the variability of our climate. The proposed work involves active collaboration with two NASA scientists and an undergraduate researcher, through several travel visits and the integration of their expertise. Consistent with NASA’s goal “to understand and protect our home planet”, our research plans support the vision set forth by this SC EPSCoR/NASA partnership pro- gram by utilizing state resources and that of NASA to ensure future competitiveness of our state.
