Seafloor Mapping

Experience Type:
Student Employee
Date Participated:
May, 2010 to December, 2010
Experience Description:
Using multibeam bathymetry, I mapped the seafloor near Winyah Bay, SC, and Charleston Harbor, SC. The software Caris and ArcGIS was used in order to process the data and create an image of the ocean floor. I gained new knowledge and skill from this project that would have been non-existent in the classroom. I was glad to have this hands-on opportunity and gain experience as it would have not been possible in a classroom setting.
Comment:
This experience shows the benefits and success of the marine science program at CCU as I was able to conduct research as an undergraduate.
